Bernd, do you wear a watch? Which one do you prefer: traditional, electronic or smartwatches?
I have a smartwatch. I don't see the point of normal watches besides fashion. They tell you the time, but I work in front a screen with a clock in the corner. When I'm outside, I can look at my phone, it's like a pocket watch.
For multiple years I wore a Casio F91W. But late last year I switched to a G-Shock GW-M5610U, because I wanted tough solar (so no battery swap needed) and multi band 6 (automatic setting of the time). Very satisfied with it, it’s also not too big, although I have a relatively small wrist.
>>9021 >Casio F91W Based terrorism enjoyer
>>9020 Imagine having to pull out your phone every time you want to know what time it is. I tried a smart watch couple of years ago and what I liked the most was the easy payment option, just hold your wrist against the card counter and done.
I wear no watch. I am the watch ...
>>9023 >Imagine having to pull out your phone every time you want to know what time it is. Well, like I said, I wear a smart watch. It's just that I don't look at the time so much. I wear it for the other features.
>>9020 > When I'm outside, I can look at my phone, it's like a pocket watch. It's a matter of habit, I've been wearing a watch since age of 6, I guess. (I'm 30 now). I recently gave up smartwatches in favor of traditional ones because of practicality. I really don't like that smartwatches require a certain gesture to activate the screen. >>9021 > F91W Legend, inshallah
>>9026 And Casio watches especially Gshock are nearly indestructible, smartwatches have broken screens instantly if you drop them or something hits your wrist
I've thought about getting a pocket watch but I don't know that I can really justify it.
>>9027 >And Casio watches especially Gshock are nearly indestructible Unlike their EX-S770 camera.
I would prefer a mix of traditional and digital. Like a traditional clock face but with a small digital screen for the date.
>>9036 Are you that Finn with the Bambino?
>>9017 Yeah, on my phone screen in my pocket.
no, i have no reasons to look at the time so often that i would need to wear a wristwatch
>>9024 This. Watches are for peasants. Kings own time.
I use a smartwatch for the health tracking stuff, mostly distance walked and sleep. Specially sleep. But the cheap straps they come with/make for them are such a pain to deal with.
>>9111 I recommend a clone of the Apple sport loop. It's really comfy.
>>9112 yeah, I've seen those and that was next of the list to try out. But I have a mi band 4 so you don't even find straps for it online anymore. Got a pack of 5 different straps a few years ago and been burning through them. Once this one is gone I'm upgrading. Or maybe I'll just make one with paracord.
>>9114 This looks like the one I'm using: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007144181909.html
>>9115 Ah, nice. Sometimes I forget aliexpress even exists
I also use Casio F91W for work (because I destroy watches there) but for everything else a smartwatch. I used to be super against smartwatches but I got a pixel watch for free a few years ago and now I'm sold on them because I don't have to pull my phone out in public anymore. Heart rate, step count, sleep time and a bunch of other info are very important to me and I've wished for such tracking for a very long time. Might get a mi band when this breaks because they seem really good for the price and I enjoy their form. A friend of mine is super autistic about traditional watches and he swears by AliExpress. Apparently Chinese quality is better than luxury brands. But the stuff he gets is still hundreds of euros.
I wear a traditional watch on my wrist, looks nice, waterproof and easier to check the time than pulling out my phone.
>>10496 Chinese luxury is a weird niche. I have some flashlights that are pretty decent. I paid 10-30€ on them, but buying equivalent flashlights from a western company would have easily been double or triple that. probably subsidised by the CCP, kek
I used to wear watches. I graduated from gaudy all-metal large pieces (ofc cheapest electronic gears) to aviator watches to not wearing wristwatches anymore because I just don't like the feel of it. Then it was pocketwatches for some time until smartphones came along and having two pieces in my pocket was just impractical. I still like watches, but I couldn't wear them anymore.
The best watch is a pocket watch.
