According to my studies it would seem that communion with God would be achievable under conditions of perfect calm and perfect awareness.
I have caught glimpses of that in my best moments. Because of that I strongly believe in Gods eternal presence and have devoted my life to him.
>>5547 Very, very based. What about synchronicities and weird happenings?
I don't dismiss anyone's experience, I'm sure there's geniuine "spiritual" experience for many religious folk that can make them feel connection to the divine and and a powerful sense of purpose, that's not a bad thing in itself. But it does seem like there's no way to prove the cause is something beyond their own mids and there are other ways to get to similar mind states that don't require belief in anything supernatural
>>5551 I don’t know about that. Sometimes words pop up in my head that have a sacred quality and I have to figure out in what way they’re related to reality.
>>5554 Supernatural is a silly term. If nature is all that exists, how can something exist beyond nature?
>>5562 It's don't. That's the point. It's just a more general term for god related stuff. I think what we see is what there is, it can get plenty complex and/or mysterious but I doubt there's a consciousness, purpose or guidance in it
>>5562 But nature is not all that exists. The soul is not nature, if we consider nature a material thing. God is not nature, although present in nature.
>>5545 If you're the person I think you are, you couldn't be further from perfect calm and perfect awareness. Apologies if you're someone else.
>>5564 >That's the point. It's just a more general term for god related stuff. That's why it's a silly term tbqh. >>5565 >The soul is not nature, if we consider nature a material thing Well, consciousness is not material, but I would consider it very much a part of nature. Animals have feelings and rudimental cognitive abilities not unlike ours for example; it is impossible to consider animals as separate from their psyche. Although it would be correct to say that they are more bound to pure instinct than we are. >>5573 I don't know who you think I am nor did I claim I possess either quality. What's your point?
>>5577 Once we cleanse ourselves from materialism, we feel God is real and there.
>>5851 Becoming one with God should be our ultimate goal. I don't think it's possible to reach that permanently for most people, but you can get closer at least and do things that are actively nourishing the soul.

The way I see it, we are always in communion with God/the universe. We are in fact the universe itself observing and experiencing itself. It's impossible to separate oneself from God/universe - it's all one substance.
>>5857 To an extent that's true. What's harder to grasp is that our consciousness is itself an echo of God. Man can't really make his own values, but you can choose whether to make yourself more similar to Him or not.
I want communion with hot italian signora instead pls, would that be possible?
>>5857 In theory that’s true, but there are still factors that separate us from that divine reality. That’s why so many people feel depressed etc.
I made a promise to Athena and broke it so I'm hiding from her at the moment.
