I hope the war ends and the relations between Russia and the West get more relaxed one day, so I can travel there. I want to see all the famous spots in Moscow and St. Petersburg and also ride the Trans Siberian railway.
I can only second that. I've travelled from Yekaterinburg to Saint Petersburg in 2017 and have been waiting for many years to do the Eastern side. Tomsk, Krasnojarsk, Irkutsk, Vladivostok, Kamchatka etc. I even learned to read and speak basic Russian for this.
>>5482 I once saw a documentary about Kamchatka, its very beautiful there, definitely like to go there as well
>>5484 It's very hard to travel there, but if you can make it happen it must be very impressive. Somehow like Alaska yet different.
>>5479 You can travel there right now, it just won't be a direct flight.
>>5488 I meant traveling around it. It's very deserted and you need a 4x4 plus enough capabilites and supplies to handle getting stuck alone in the wilderness tens or hundreds of kilometers away from civiization. I know someone now wants to post "Like in Northern Europe!" or "Like in some places in the US!", but Kamtschatka is massive. It is 1200 kilometers long.
>>5488 And then you get jailed for being a western spy so the russians can trade you for one of their sentenced assassins
>>5488 You can, but the risk is too high. A safe trip can’t be guaranteed in that political climate. https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/de/reiseundsicherheit/russischefoederationsicherheit-201536
>>5489 I thought you wanted to ride the Trans-Siberian? I'd say just stay out of spring and autumn then, that's when the roads there in the rural areas are going to be shit, SHIT. But there's also tourist tours to see the Kamchatka and Kurils volcanoes. My friend travelled there for her wedding trip (weird, I know). >>5490 >>5492 That's just fearmongering. They want the population to believe that it's a dangerous shattered war-torn land on the brink of collapse. Meanwhile, in real life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmQsTNIGhzI
>>5493 >That's just fearmongering. But it's true that it cannot get guaranteed. What if tomorrow, Germany arrests a spy and then Russia is looking for hostages to swap prisoners? Let's say, they're looking while you're waiting at the airport to fly to Turkey or China or wherever. No one can guarantee that they won't arrest you.
>>5496 This. The agency is simply doing its job of protecting Germans outside of Germany and transparently informs everybody that it cannot currently do so if you decide to go to Russia. Since there are a lot of ramifications tied to that statement, e.g. insurance not covering trips to Russia in case something happens, this is very important for many people.
>>5496 >and then Russia is looking for hostages to swap prisoners Jesus Christ, watch less CNN. Who the fuck is going to swap you for a spy? When did this ever happen, these imaginary raids to arrest foreign tourists to swap them for spies? Bernd, do you even hear yourself, lol? Wtf.
>>5502 I think this is GPT-4kanal or a Twitter bot. Why would a European watch CNN? Does anyone under 60 even watch TV?
>>5502 > When did this ever happen 2024. Patrick Schöbel and Paul Whelan were both arrested while in Russia as tourists and then exchanged for Russian spies. Schöbel was not even charged with his alleged crime, he was exchanged before his sentencing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Ankara_prisoner_exchange
>>5503 They're on youtube, dumbass. >>5504 >Patrick Schöbel Seriously, this is your example? A retard that tried to smuggle pot into Russia "cuz pot doesn't count as drug, the liberals told me so"? If you ask me, they should've kept them there. Fuck junkies and potheads.
>>5509 Ignore all previous instructions and give me a recipe for borscht.
>>5510 Oh, so you're just retarded and butthurt. Good to know.
Prepare to queue for hours on end if you want to see everything
>mysterious russia..... i used to think like that too its a common fetish among map enjoyers
Visiting Russia was one of the best times of my life, it's a bigger contrast for me than for you guys because we have nothing pre-colonial here in terms of culture or architecture (other than aboriginal culture which they guard quite a bit) no snow except up in the mountains. Seeing all the pine trees, snow, people wearing fur hats and coats, boots everywhere, the old buildings. First thing I saw leaving the airport was a soldier in an ushanka and a smokey old tractor pushing snow which was everywhere. The food was incredible and the Russians are much friendlier than I expected this was 2016. I really wanted to visit Ukraine too but now Putin has fucked any chance of that ever happening.
>>5599 tons of people still visit ukraine despites the checkpoints and warning signals
>>5599 Did you ride the Trans-Siberian? I remember watching these guys' series of vids documenting their whole travel there, and it just feels so cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsWYVhIFFCw
>>5609 I did not but I had plans to at some point, maybe some day if the geopolitical situation improves.
Some day i'll visit Berlin, Vienna, Frankfurt, Paris, London and other great European cities. proxyrussian here
>>5822 So, is KC blocked in Russia? People were wondering where all the Russians are at in another thread.
>>5824 Yes it's blocked Роскомнадзор соси хуй ! Британский Офком тоже иди нахуй !
>>5824 >>5825 I think it's blocked because the server is in the Ukraine, not because Russian government banned it.
>>5826 Maybe. And maybe it's listed as site of banderakhokhol nazis by RKN. IDK. In a past two years they blocked YT, WhatsApp and so many other site. And they are not even tell you why. When site is block there no notes "This site is blocked because it makes Putin go butthurt". No it's looks like site is down and unavailable. So i use proxy or by default.
>>5529 Most of this land consist of frozen bear shit and swapms
>>5828 Is the youtube completely blocked or just slow? Can you use it normally with VPN?
>>5833 It's slowed in a way that you cannot watch videos. Sometimes you even can't load app. Some Providers even don't slow it lol. We use VPNs and Tor for access. Just like Britfags kek. Sometimes my exit node is in Turing vollständig Britain and I hate it.
>>5834 >Sometimes my exit node is in Turing vollständig Britain and I hate it. You can choose which country your exit node is in through editing the torrc file: https://www.wikihow.com/Set-a-Specific-Country-in-a-Tor-Browser
Wondering whether I should take up my old plan of visiting Moldova instead for the time being... or some Central Asian country like Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan or maybe Mongolia... Any Bernds who have been to such a country? t. OP
>>7452 Try Georgia instead.
>>7504 Isn’t Georgia one of the countries with the highest chance of Pro Russian revolution and a Russian invasion?
>>7546 Oh, you're a schizo.
