de Bernd 2025-10-05 12:10:54 No. 14253
Do Bernds torrent? If so, what are your favorite trackers? What's your preferred torrenting setup: which client, VPN/seedbox or rather bare IP?
Bernd torrents since 2005 and uses a VPN since 2008. Since 2012 Bernd uses a VPS with VPN to torrent. Before that torrented on NAS and PC. Never used Usenet or OCH. In the Past sometimes FTP and XDCC but both are now dead.
>>14256 >Never used Usenet or OCH Do you consume German content? Because I feel that lacks on torrent trackers, even German private trackers lacks a lot of stuff.
>>14253 swiss government doesn't give a fuck, so i use my NAS, where i run transmission. I have a 10/10gbit FTTH connection.
>>14280 Can't you get into trouble for uploading? I anyways use a VPN for that reason. Am I stupid?
>>14280 That you can download stuff like that legally is based https://www.digitec.ch/en/page/swiss-copyright-law-what-can-and-cant-i-download-30429
>>14282 technically you could, but i've been torrenting since 20 years, never got in trouble, but then again i only use private trackers, which minimizes the risk to a degree.
>>14259 Bernd does now only torrent Anime in original voice with english subtitles and anime music. All from nyaa.si. Back then Bernd also went on torrent.to which was a german site to load series and movies. But now Bernd has no more interesst in western stuff.
>>14282 >Can't you get into trouble for uploading? Only if the stuff you upload is illegal material. I never got any broblem's either.
mullvad + tixati
>>14294 But it has no port forwarding
I like Animebytes is best. I have a seed box for 8€ a month.
I remember using gnutella in like 2000.. it was the first p2p file sharing prog built by the guys who made Winamp. Justin Finkel. anywho I use realdebrid.. they basically already have 95% of torrents downloaded to their servers so you just link what you want and it's instant download.
>>14300 I hope you’re a Legend
>>14297 Yes, billions must leech
>>14557 I’m currently thinking about switching to ProtonVPN, it is 3€ per month if you get a two year plan, has much more servers than Mullvad and supports port forwarding, it’s also a rather reputable provider
>>14559 Yeah I tried the free version and it was good and I'm already using it for E-Mail. Though I just because they have a good reputation doesnt mean I *trust* them. The are too big to be really pro piracy.. uh I obviously mean privacy.
>>14620 >The are too big to be really pro piracy. They are pretty open about filesharing and supporting P2P: https://protonvpn.com/support/port-forwarding (of course no sane reputable company would say piracy in public, but they're nonetheless pretty clear that they are supporting it by allowing stuff like port forwarding etc) >Port forwarding routes connections through the firewall that Proton VPN uses to protect our customers. It’s a feature that is mainly useful to people who download and share files using P2P protocols such as BitTorrent, although it can also improve performance for online gamers.
>>14621 Yeah I mean considering the law >>14283 in Switzerland, they most likely dont have any pressure from the state.
Nyaa, rutor, rutracker, Outdated Deluge, bare IP. I don't torrent currently popular slop, so I don't get letters.
>>14677 I torrented an anime movie and still was fined hundreds of euros
>>14703 How did that work? Did you get sent a letter and summoned to court? Who brought charges against you?
>>14708 In Germany we have law companies who are specifically monitoring torrent swarms (on behalf of German rightsholders) for German IPs. They then request the personal details of those IPs from the ISPs and send them letters asking for hundreds, sometimes thousands of euros in fines. It’s not legally binding at that stage, so theoretically you could ignore the letters and hope they give up. But it is possible you get sentenced to court eventually where you’ll probably lose the case and will have to pay much more than what was asked for in the beginning. I didn’t want to take that risk, especially because I was still living with my parents and the letter was directed at them and not me, so I didn’t want to get them in trouble. I just got a lawyer who contacted the law firm and negotiated a lower fine, then I paid up like a good goy.
>>14284 >but then again i only use private tracker Why don't you encode and rip stuff and upload it to them?
>>14253 Wouldn't you wanna know. >>14703 >>14711 Nobody gives a shit about these letters. And very few people even get them. You're not scaring or fooling anybody. Go look elsewhere for fools to give up their torrent sources so that you could track them.
