Does your country have a monarch? What about royal pretenders? What is your opinion on monarchy? Our monarch is Norton I., Emperor of the United States, protector of Mexico. There is a statue to him in San Francisco.
This is the Prince of Hohenzollern, the descendant of the last German Emperor
>>13561 Does he love anime like that Habsburg guy?
>>13545 You might never have heard of the comic book series Lucky Luke, but Norton is the subject of one story.
>>13567 Or rather, a character LIKE Norton.
>>13565 He loves to sue the german state to get back former Hohenzollern treasures and castles.
Yes, King Charles the third of Australia. I like monarchies and I like the system we have at the moment.
>>13579 Any nobility that doesn't shitpost about anime can go straight to the guillotine.

My area was annexed from Habsburg territory by the city-state of Lucerne in the 1400's and there's still a lot of reminders of that, like street names, castles and heraldry. Many ordinary Swiss think that this was the dawn of democracy here but this couldn't be further from the truth, it's just that local Noble and Patrician families in city councils took over the reins of power and they oppressed the rural population even worse in some cases. It was only after Napoleon that nobility and the old feudal order was abolished for good.
In my city Spandau there are some streets named after ruler dynastys like the Askanier and the Hohenzollern. And the town hall still reminds me everyday I see it at the Kaiser. >Built under the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II by the citizens in the years MCMX – MCMXIII
>>13585 Habsburger Chinchads and their children-sized gene pool were quite big in my region as well. Lots of residences, castles and we did a lot about them during history classes.

>>13584 >Any nobility ... can go straight to the guillotine Dont make it complicated.
>>13567 This is interesting, I didn't know about Lucky Luke or his meeting with Emperor Smith.
>>13631 Here are (a lot) more cases of real people used as characters in stories https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HistoricalDomainCharacter

>>13633 1st one that came up...
>>13587 I didn't know there were two of us. Actually it's quite eery seeing as there are only like ten people here. t. fellow Spandauer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Frederick_Charles_of_Hesse this dude if germans had won ww1
>>13649 brufist from Hakenfelde. But I lived in Staaken too and Falkenhagener Feld for years. Spandau is my home since I was born.
>>13752 Staaken has a weird mix, on one side it’s turbo bydlo (that’s where I live), but on the other side there are single family houses with nice cars and shit
>>13760 >Staaken has a weird mix, on one side it’s turbo bydlo (that’s where I live) Hi, Obstallee-Bernd. That's really a turbo bydlo place. I was there once visiting a fren and gypsies would throw garbage from their balcony. >but on the other side there are single family houses with nice cars and shit That's where I lived.
>>13761 Nah, luckily I don’t live at Obstallee, that’s one of the most vile places in Spandau. I once helped a friend move and he bought a couch from someone living there. The staircase smelled of urine and excrement was smeared on the walls, the inhabitants said homeless people live there.
>>13762 Ok, there are just a few other bydlo places in Staaken. Maulbeeralle area or Zweiwinkelweg area
>>13764 >implying Berlin isn't a single bydlo place
>>13764 Why did you close Cowboy Club Old Texas :(
>>13769 There is nothing bydlo about Grunewald for example
>>13776 The joke, your head, etc. As expected from a Berliner :-DDDDD
>>13810 I read about this issue in Spandauer Volksblatt, our local free newspaper. Mostly seniors complained. I've never visited this place so I don't really give a fuck. How is it that this news got to California?

>>13862 >Spandauer Volksblatt, our local free newspaper
>>13864 Every household gets it so why not read it? I'm u30 btw
>>13868 I haven't gotten it in a long time, wonder what happened
>>13870 Had this issue too once. Propably the cleaner woman of my appartment threw it away. It's also nice for getting infos about events like for example free music concerts. I read maybe 10 % of it tho.
>>13868 > I'm u30 Yes, of course you are. We believe you. You are really hip with skinny jeans and a moustache and all lol.
>>13762 >The staircase smelled of urine and excrement was smeared on the walls, the inhabitants said homeless people live there. This is Berlin and if you don't like it you can always go back to Swabia.
>>13875 bad troll is bad No swabian would move to Spandau
>>13875 No, that’s not Berlin in general. In Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf I have never seen or heard of stuff like that.
>>13881 >OUR shit does not smell
>Berlin Bernds arguing in English about Berlin ...I don't know what to say
>>13545 Russia would be better if it stayed monarchy like Bongland. But what done is done.
>>13903 Do you think that Russia is the Third Rome?
Being from Berlin is a Berliners entire personality. They do not have anything to talk about, except for Berlin.
>>13903 British monarchs are only symbolic figureheads, it's a de facto Republic.
>>13904 It's 21-st century, too late for such ideological constructs. Centuries ago it probably sounded cool, every empire back then did Roman larp. >>13906 > are only symbolic figureheads You're exaggerating. Still, in Britain society developed by evolution rather than by revolution like in France or later Russia. And it yielded better results.
>>13920 But Putin's Russia is a direct descendant of the Russian Empire.
>>13924 Through the blessing of the Russian Orthodox Church.
>>13924 like in all of them? seriously, name one that the present-day Russia isn't mimicking its past?
Modern Russia can't be a direct descendent of the Russian empires, it's not run by Germans(hence the problems).
We have a Grand-Duc. And just today we got a new one. Guillaume V. Not sure how to feel about it. But in our everyday life there is no difference to France which is a republic.
>>13963 okay, you're Luxembourg, so different, but like some years ago there was agitation about the Prince of Liechtenstein overturning the balance of power there and taking full power in the state so as a representative of the small European states what would you say on the point that it's easier to grab absolute power in them?
>Does your country have a monarch? No
>>13963 The grand-duc is filthy rich, right? Like bezos tier rich?
>>13972 Well you can do that easy at first glance. Because the structures are smaller and easier to overcome than in big countries. It's more like taking over a city. But, as a small country you have no real power. Everyone can overthrow you as well. And the neighbouring countries can not accept your new regime and then you have serious problems because small countries live on import/export.
>>13976 >Everyone can overthrow you as well. And the neighbouring countries can not accept your new regime and then you have serious problems yeah, a reasonable point if I remember correctly, in that Liechtenstein conjuncture Switzerland had a say, as they influence Liechtenstein 's politics heavily
>>13862 >Mostly seniors complained it seems like a club for seniors. Cowboys, dress up, whatnot. >How is it that this news got to California? I am from Texas. We have places like Club Texas here but aimed at Europe. German themed places with leather pants, yodeling, chicken dance, etc. It's funny to see it in reverse.
>>13991 Also makes me sad that the Texas Embassy in London closed.
>>13991 > German themed >leather pants, yodeling, chicken dance That's Bavaria. The part of Germany I'm in is nothing like that.
>>13994 Yes I know. Now you know the feeling :)
>>13994 > Mimimimi everyone only knows Bavaria > No one cares about Grünkohl mit Pinkel Stay buttmad north-German bernd.
>>14005 I'm neither buttmad nor north-German. Wanna try again? But good to know who "the enemy" is to you.
>>14006 What even is chicken dance? t. other North/East German Bernd
>>14007 Something they do at American Oktoberfest, based on a Swiss song (Ententanz) nothing to do with Bavaria
>>14007 It's called "Ententanz" in German. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lot7_06YS8k
>>14006 Lies upon lies. At best, you are Feanconian, but I doubt it. People always claim to be not c North German at Al them it turns out that they lied and they are actually from Cologne or Frankfurt or some other North German shithole
>>14011 Whatever you want to believe.
>>14012 So tell me where you are from. And no lies, little leftist-green North German Malte. I can smell it when you lie. But You can't even say it, or you would have said it. What is it? Hesse? Saxony? Are you little miscarried subhuman even aware that North Germany starts at the 49th parallel? Go eat fish, worthless Prussian.
>>14011 Those don't seem that far north to me. Where does North Germany start and why does it start there?
>>14084 But what is that map? Is it bits controlled by Prussia?
>>14087 North German Confederation
>>14088 That didn't last long though did it? What cultural impact did that have? Or is the south still but hurt about it.
>>14070 Don't listen to that Swiss >>14084 North Germany is basically Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Bremen. Some count Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to it too but it's more east-german.
>>14094 Neither Frankfurt or Cologne are in those states.
>>14108 True, because they are not north german. Frankfurt is Hesse and Cologne Rhineland
>>14109 Then why did he say they were North German?
>>14110 Because he is from Switzerland and has obviously no clue.
>>14111 Not him, this person >>14011
>>14094 Everything above the Weißwurst-Line is North German, make dealings.
>>14113 He is a bad troll

>>13936 > mimicking Exactly, mimicking visual attributes like flag or rhetoric. If we look a bit deeper than that, in 1917 old institutions were destroyed, a lot of people (including whole upper class) were killed or fled. 1991 can't be compared to that. So current state is naturally descendant of Soviet Union. Since then it changed a lot, mostly in better direction, but still it's rather RSFSR than pre-revolutionary Russia. And anyway, decades were lost in vain, that can't be undone. >>13945 This but unironically.
Prussian's don't exists anymore. Also Prussia's are obliviously better than Bavarians and Austrians seeing as they defeated them and made Germany.
>>14159 Russia needs to join the EU and get it over with. Let Germany handle Russians war debts in exchange for government bribes, a new currency, and a right of migration
>>14149 >great cuisine I unironically hate it though.
>>14181 reported to the Swiss cheese police
>>14184 Actually, the Camembert cheese with tons of paprika spice is something I kinda like but that would get me disappeared by the Swiss cheese police. I hate the heavy meat-and-potatoes style of food that leaves you in a food coma for 8 days unless you numb your stomach with shots of hard liquor. Like, half a baked pig's leg. So greasy! I like Sauerkraut and Rotkraut though.
>>14185 >hate the heavy meat-and-potatoes style of food you are persisting, punk? we Europeans have been devouring potatoes since pre-historic times stop ridiculing our traditions! embrace the grease!

>>14189 Potatoes weren't in Europe in prehistoric times. Nice try but you need to go back to your own country, Tzetzlcoatla.
>>14206 True, but he's right about the importance of potatoes in eastern european and german cuisine. There is almost no german meal without potatoes somehow integrated. You can make them into casserole, you can eat them with skin or without, you can make them into pies, soups, pancakes, eat them with curd cheese, fry or deep-fry them,... and they are cheap. Potatoes are awesome. I have always a sack at home.
>>14208 Ehh, I hate potatos. I would rather something flour based as a carb.

>>14208 Yes this stuff was passed down from my great grandmother so I grew up with tons of potatoes in every meal just about. There should be a song or something in dedication. Ode to the Potato
>>14221 potato is a god's gift to white mankind
>>14221 You can make flour from potatoes, too.
>>14301 Then why was it created in the brown world? >>14304 The Australian natives used to make flour from ground up moths. Only flour from grain is acceptable.
Wait. Flour from rice is acceptable to.
>>14317 No corn flour or rye flour or buckwheat flour or almond flour?

>>14324 Do Americans use Cornflour to make Pizza? Savages. It's no wonder they are in the state they are in.
>>14325 Not in the crust, but if you powder the outside of the dough with cornflour it will give it a crunch
