I once read there was supposedly a stage in human development during which it was important to pay attention to legs and feet to make sure your mate was both physically able to keep up with the long distances prehistoric humans had to walk, and didn't have any of diseases which could supposedly be recognized from anomalies in their gait (I have forgotten which diseases). Humans relying so heavily on just two legs (a bird with a broken leg can at least still fly, but a human would be toast) makes it understandable that humans pay much more attention to the lower parts of the body than other species.
I find it okay to fetishize legs, but feet are the worst part of the body. They're not just ugly, but also absolutely incapable of doing their job on their own. Try walking a couple of days barefeet, especially on the same ground our ancestors also already walked on. Constant pain. Feet are useless without artificial help, aka "shoes". Imagine your hands needing gloves all day to perform their most basic functions.
