Who is your favorite grifter? Mine is techlead.
PtolemySL, love his borderline insane schizo rants paired with subdued Akira Yamaoka music.
Wtf is a "grifter"?
>>10091 >>10092 Definition from urban dictionary: A manipulator or otherwise generally corrupt person who "games" a system, group of people, or other entity for selfish gains; especially of a political "sell-out" perceived as lacking integrity.
>>10091 >>10092 A con artist basically. Here is a video explaining it in autistic detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcXIhqvssdE
>>10093 I thought it's now used for YTers who pander to a specific side of the culture war.
>>10096 Its used pretty inflationary in the last years for different persons, yea.
>>10093 >>10095 So it's just an algorithm-farming attention whore then?
>>10101 At minimum. Most are even worse, selling merchandise or courses.
Or making their own crypto tokeb. Grifters love to do that.
>>10102 They are deliberate social parasites and should be beheaded publicly. The money they stole from the people should be spent on repairing local infrastructure.
>>10107 I find them funny to some extent.
>Who is your favorite grifter? Justin Murphy, by far. He claims to be a Deleuze & Guattari expert but mostly cherrypicks Anti-Oedipus to prop up his NRx-adjacent views. His reading is shallow, but he knows how to game the system. Credit where it’s due. He built a niche platform and landed guests like Yarvin, Land, and even /g/-man Luke Smith. He mastered the outsider intellectual persona, blending edgy academia with contrarian vibes. He treats theory more like branding than rigorous engagement, but he’s savvy at curating a scene that keeps people watching. I don't think he's a fraud, he's just a strategic player who knows how to package fringe ideas for maximum attention.
>>10087 I find techlead viscerally disgusting, just everything about him including how he looks talks and moves. I don't even know what he talks about tbh, beyond a few of his early vids I got baited into watching. Good job by him I guess. >>10128 I think you did a decent job of describing him except I can't possibly imagine giving him a second more of my time than it took to get that impression. He's extremely empty. Luke Smith who you've mentioned is interesting enough to pay attention to, but since he popped back up on youtube I've found him so blackpilled and ungrounded that he's just increasingly objectively wrong about baseline reality (he made a video about being a 2022-Emily-Bender-tier head-in-sand AI denier for one thing). Good on him for escaping the temporal world.
>>10141 (Luke Smith is of course not a grifter he's a principledly autistic monk, just talking about him since you mentioned him)
>>10141 Luke Smith is back on YouTube? I liked his more techy videos and share a lot of his views about bloat, but his arrogant style and increased extremism in that regard started souring on me. Well, nice that you shaved another 20kB off your idle memory but I don't really care and can you please stop sucking your own dick about it?
